Gardens of the Abbey of Saint André, Villeneuve lez Avignon

A rare place that harmoniously combines the art of gardening, a mosaic of heritage and the history of Languedoc and Provence since the 6th century! The abbey's gardens, which have been awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label, are set between the remains of the Romanesque churches and the 6th century tombs: Mediterranean plants, olive trees and century-old pines.... On the heights, these balcony gardens offer a panoramic view of the Palace of the Popes in Avignon.

Exhibition "A deux pas d'ici" by Bernard Tribondeau

From date 01 March to date 29 May 2022

Opening of the cultural season with an immobile journey. The exhibition À deux pas d'ici brings together three recent works by photographer Bernard Tribondeau on the landscape, real or fantasized, in a narrow perimeter around his city: Villeneuve lez Avignon. An artistic exercise imposed by the pandemic but not only. It's small world captures, in superimposition, the unbridled and ephemeral botanical abundance of the first confinement, before the municipal gardeners are called to order. His wanderings through this intimate territory led him to the gardens of Saint-André Abbey and its alleys, producing the verticalities of Secret Gardens. L'Écorce des âmes highlights the olive trees of the abbey and its surroundings, in the millennial wave of those of Crete, brushing against these silhouettes in a majestic body to body encounter.

Exhibition, Frémissements by Sylvie Michault

From date 01 June to date 28 August 2022

Essentially composed of tropical plant matter from different continents, Sylvie Michault's paintings are lost gardens that one can easily imagine hanging over a river in the Amazonian forest where the artist lived for a long time.

The leaves, often degraded, gnawed, etc., are marouflaged one by one. They are sometimes so thin that they cannot be grasped with the fingers. A mixed technique that requires patience and skill. Some of the works are highlighted with haiku, others are geometrically rigorous and have intense colours that contrast with the natural element. Precarious balances that highlight the tenuous relationship that humanity has with its environment. This fragile beauty gives us strength and serenity.

Exhibition, Edens by Cyril Destrade

From date 31 August to date 30 October 2022

With a resolute optimism, the artist Cyril Destrade presents here his latest works, alternating between ink, acrylic, watercolour or pastel on canvas and paper. The line is spontaneous, the colour palette transparent and intense at the same time. The warmth of the colours and the spontaneity of the almost choreographic expression create a plant-like, liquid and luminous world that constantly oscillates between abstraction and narration. Edens transports the public into the flourishing imagination of this artist who has seduced the great houses with which he regularly collaborates. This exhibition reveals the stages of creation, notably by comparing the objects of the table services created for the Gien faience factory with the original drawings and preparatory sketches that served as models for their creation. Watercolours commissioned by Hermès are also presented.
