A must-visit: the Ripert Tower, formerly the castle dungeon, is a symbol of the rich past of Valréas as well as a rewarding climb, as at the top, you are greeted with a magnificent panorama of the city and its surroundings. A visit to the 16th century Chapel of the White Penitents, which is adorned with sumptuous baroque decoration, boiseries in walnut sculpté and a ceiling painted in trompe-l'oeil, is definitely worth the detour.
