Museum of the Packaging Cardboard and Printing
A presentation of how cardboard boxes were made and printed in Valréas, the capital of French cardboard manufacture, from the mid-19th century to the present day.
Everything started with a silkworm…
In the middle of the 19th century, Ferdinand Revoul from the Vaucluse developed a box designed to transport silkworm eggs imported from China and Japan. These boxes allowed air to pass through thanks to small holes in the bottom and the lid. It was an ingenious system that marked the beginning of the whole packaging industry in Valréas.
Unique in France, this museum, opened in 1991 houses souvenirs of the packaging and printing trade which has brought prosperity to Valréas since the middle of the 19th century. It shows the methods of manufacture and printing of cardboard boxes from its beginnings to today.
The museum also has a bookshop and gift shop.

April 1st to September 30th: from 10:30 am to 1 pm and from 2:30 pm to 6 pm
every day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Open all year for groups by reservation (from 10 people)
Closed on January 1st, May 1st and December 25th
